Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

K-2 DIBELS AWARDS

All K-2 students were very excited about the awards they received on Friday, September 15, 2006. Approximately 40 students benchmarked during Fall testing. Although the majority of the students who benchmarked were out of 1st grade, I think we will see larger benchmark numbers in all grades during Winter testing. Each student received a certificate and a pencil. All students were well-behaved during the assembly. The students were encouraged to work hard over the next few months because during Winter assembly we will be inviting special guests (parents and grandparents) to the awards ceremony. We must always remember to thank our teachers for the hard work and dedication to our students. Without great teachers - we could not have great students! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
