Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Our "Student of the Month" celebration encourages students to "be on their best behavior." One student is selected monthly by each teacher for displaying positive behavior. The students are rewarded with a pizza luncheon. Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Laros, and Mrs. Sims often eat lunch with the students. The students enjoy a personalized place mat, ice cream, and their picture displayed outside the office. This is an exciting event for our students so please encourage students throughout the month and remind them of the positive rewards they will receive. When I remove the pictures from the wall at the end of the month, I will send them to your classroom. It would be great if you displayed the pictures of the chosen students inside your classroom throughout the school year. Maybe you could create your very own "student of the month" wall as a reminder of the positive rewards for outstanding behavior.
