Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

"Grab a Hat, Read with the Cat"

There is evidence throughout the school that Hal Henderson is celebrating with schools across the state. The annual Read Across Alabama celebration has finally arrived and we are excited. On Monday, March 1, Henderson students were amazed when a famous cat and a guest reader appeared in the classroom. Anita Gibson, AEA President, and the famous "Cat" came to visit.

The tour began in Pre-K and went through second grade. Pre-K students were amazed and some were even a little scared.

Kindergarten students were speachless for the very first time.

First graders were a bit confused. One first grader admitted he had once seen an alligator with pants.

Second graders were attentive and appreciative. Second graders wanted to touch the cat and shake his hand.

Everyone enjoyed the "Cat in the Hat." Thanks Mrs. Gibson for bringing the Cat. We loved the book you read and we hope to see you both again next year. Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!!

Stay tuned for additional photos from our week long celebration!
