Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

CALLING ALL "TIGGERIFIC" TEAM MEMBERS:

READY OR NOT - HERE WE GO!!
It's time once again to begin a new year! I know all of you are rested and prepared with new ideas/thoughts for a new challenge.

I KNOW YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING TO HEAR THE NEWS - NOTHING HAS BEEN CONFIRMED, BUT IT APPEARS YOU DESERVE A CHEER!!!

Our SAT/ARMT scores look GOOD. Based on the AYP determination chart Dr. Buck created, it appears we have made AYP once again. We exceeded the State goals and were positive in reading and math. Reading was probably a negative without the 2's, but I didn't confirm that just yet. At a glance, it appears Mrs. Horn had the greatest reading gains. I haven't broken it all down, but we will do that on Friday, August 7. Congratulations, Mrs. Horn! I knew you could do it!!!

We all have work to do, of course, but we are improving each year. Small or large, PROGRESS is great and I consider it a SUCCESS. So celebrate! You are all very gifted in what you do and I know you continue to make a difference in the lives and future of our children. So get ready to "Rock N Roll" again. We are off to a new start with a few new challenges. Nothing we can't handle with our great "teamwork".

If you need to reach me, call my blackberry at 256-223-0381. I am no longer using my personal cell. You can also reach me by e-mail at school or home at alaros03@att.net. I will be back at work this week, but both boys have a doctors appointment on Monday at 11:30. I will be in the office before and after the appointment. Brady begins soccer camp this week as well so I will need to leave school by 4:45 to get him there on time.

If you haven't been by the school, come by to see the changes. I think you will be pleased!!!

Also, think of a theme for your wing (grade level). Mrs. Taylor gave me an idea and I like it!! We will talk more. Mrs. Seals also gave me an idea and we will discuss that as well. Gosh, we have a lot to catch up on!

SEE YOU SOON!!!!
