Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

WELCOME BACK!!! I hope all of you enjoyed your Christmas holidays and had an eventful New Year's Eve. I want to thank you once again for the money tree and card of money you gave me for Christmas along with the many other gifts. You are all very generous!

I also want to thank you once again for all of your hard work and dedication during the first semester. All of you are doing a fantastic job and I appreciate your effort toward preparing our children and making our school the very best that it can be!

Now that we have only a few months before the "true" test of our talents - Spring testing, please dedicate every minute to preparing our children. Please remember to "stay on task" 100% of the time. Our children do not need any additional distractions. Please use all of the test prep materials provided - Alabama ARMT Coach and Ladders to Success to provide practice similar to the test. Also, use your Saxon testing material to determine if student's have mastered required skills and reteach if necessary. Math and reading are most important and we must improve in both areas.

PLEASE REMEMBER:
1. Before leaving school Friday (Jan. 4), you must complete the on line survey for both workshops you attended on Tuesday. Click on the link for teach talladega for additional information - Dec. 31 post. Please read instructions carefully when answering survey questions!!!! The surveys are short and should not take very long. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THE WORKSHOPS UNTIL THE SURVEYS ARE COMPLETE.

2. Prepare materials for class tomorrow - Being prepared prevents discipline problems and stress among students and teachers.

3. Check report cards for errors. If you find an error, please make the corrections on the report card and give it to Cristy to correct and print a new card. Please do not attempt to post again - posting is turned off!

4. K-3 teachers will need to prepare material for Friday since you will be participating in DATA meetings. Please leave enough "busy" work to keep students out of trouble. Substitutes should not be expected to teach your lessons - they aren't prepared for that type instruction.
