Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

CONGRATULATIONS KINDERGARTEN-3RD GRADE


Congratulations kindergarten, first, second and third grades. We are so very proud of all of you on your DIBELS scores. First grade - you deserve a gold crown - 0% intensive in Oral Reading Fluency - WOW!!!! Only 6 kids total were strategic in oral reading and all others benchmarked - AMAZING!!!. All of you should be commended for your hard work and dedication. You have truly worked miracles!

Great work, Mr. Berry on 5th and 6th grade STAR results. It is obvious that students are building comprehension skills. You are doing a tremendous job with reading at both levels. Keep up the hard work! I knew you could do it....


THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK!
"THE SKILLS WE LEARN TO REACH ONE LEARNER WILL PROVIDE THE SKILLS WE NEED TO REACH ANOTHER."

Something to think about....

1. Think of a teacher you know who seems to succeed with all students. To what do you attribute his or her success? We could apply this very statement to our first grade teachers!

2. What do you consider the most difficult aspects of teaching and reaching all students?

3. What strategies can be used to show compassion for students' difficulties without compromising expectations?

4. Share ways to influence students who often make excuses regarding their work. Mr. Berry has ideas to share - he is a resource for ways of positively influencing children. His background and classroom management techniques are worth sharing.

As you know, this is a short week.

Wednesday - Early dismissal at 12:30/End 3rd Six Weeks


JUST A REMINDER.....

*All grades should be posted before leaving on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007.

*Everyone should be signed up for 2 professional development sessions before leaving school today - Dec. 17th.

*Our Henderson Christmas Party will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. in the lunchroom. We will enjoy a wonderful lunch together (without children) and play our traditional "Dirty Santa" game. Don't forget your $10.00 gift!
