Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

FIELD DAY AT HAL HENDERSON

Field Day at Hal Henderson was an exciting event for everyone. Mr. Berry and Mr. Goodwin took turns in the dunking booth. A lot of money was spent by students attempting to wet them both. First graders had great throwing arms with amazing eye hand coordination. The first graders win the prize for sending Mr. Berry to the bottom of the booth. The field day committee purchased five inflatables for this event. Students enjoyed all activities throughout the day. The sack race and three legged race was hilarious. The boys were pleasantly surprised with a visit from Chartavious Keith and O'Bryan Davis, two of Talladega High School's best basketball players. Keith and Davis shot basketball with the boys in all grade levels from 9:00 until 12:00. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the cheerleaders from Zora Ellis Jr. High. The Ellis cheerleaders were proud to share cheers and dance routines. The 5th/6th grade softball game at the end of the day was competitive and exciting for staff and students. Everyone enjoyed the day and students were well behaved. I'm sure everyone slept well Friday night!!!
