Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

CONGRATULATIONS!

Congratulations are in order for Kindergarten through third grade teachers and students. Our DIBELS scores are in and we are proud of all of you.

Kindergarten results are as follows:

LNF - Goal 40 - 100% benchmark

Thanks Mrs. Gooden and Mrs. Williard for all of your hard work. You are both doing an amazing job!! Your dedication and teamwork yields 44 excellent readers. Teachers in the upper grades are able to teach on grade level because you send them students who are prepared. I continue to be amazed with your success considering you each had 22 students. Thanks for all you do!!

First grade results are as follows:

PSF - Goal 35 - 100% benchmark
NWF - Goal 50 - 100% benchmark
ORF - Goal 40 - 91% benchmark

With 24 students in one classroom and the only first grade teacher, Mrs. Taylor's scores are amazing! Thanks to Mrs. Taylor and her students for all of their hard work, determination, and dedication. Keep setting your goals high - you will always be successful.

Second grade results are as follows:

ORF - Goal 90 - 82% benchmark

We are proud of our second graders! Hal Henderson's scores in second grade continue to rise each year. We are also proud of the students who met their goals in Accelerated Reader. The majority of the second graders were rewarded for their efforts when making the list for the A.R. field trip. Congratulations!!!

Third grade results are as follows:

ORF - Goal 110 - 86% benchmark

With 23 students in one class and the only 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Sims' scores are outstanding! We are very proud of the progress our third graders have made. All of you have worked hard all year, and I know you will see huge gains on ARMT results in the summer. Congratulations and continue to reach for the stars!

A special thanks to Mrs. Barksdale for her hard work, dedication, collaboration, and determination. Mrs. Barksdale is an amazing reading coach with many talents. Among many other things, we all appreciate your extra work with the tier III students and your leadership in kindergarten. You are the best!!

Congratulations to all of you! You did an amazing job and I am proud to have all of you on our team!
