Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

"THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK"



"THE MINUTE WE REFUSE TO REACH OUT TO STUDENTS, IT'S OVER."

Something to think about:

1. What action do you take when a student stops reaching out to you? Be prepared to discuss some of these strategies at our next faculty meeting.

2. What insights have you gained about how a student's family life can affect his or her willingness to seek help? We really need to think about this one and share ideas!

3. Why do some students think they are not included when you invite students to come to you for help? Look for ways to reach those that never ask for help and truly need it.

4. What creative methods could be used to encourage students to accept help? Let's share these methods during our next faculty meeting.

Thanks Mrs. Clay for getting our Study Island software up and running. You are the best! I know this will be an excellent opportunity for our students to learn and grow while working at their individual ability level. I believe this will be one way we can remediate students in both reading and math skills. I will be checking individual student progress and class progress throughout the year. This software was very expensive and I know all of you are going to use it daily. Remember, students can log on from home or anywhere internet is available.

Fri., Oct. 31 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!/End 2nd Six Weeks/Pre-K will trick-or-treat/Saxon Common Assessment due to Dr. Buck - grades 3-6.
