Hal Henderson recently participated in Jumpstart's Read for the Record campaign. This program was a national campaign to encourage hundreds of thousands of children and adults to read the same book, Corduroy, on October 2, 2008. Our participation in this campaign was a wonderful experience for our 4 year olds.

Jumpstart's mission is to prepare every child in America for school. To that end, Jumpstart created an awareness campaign, Read for the Record, to engage children and adults across the country in the powerful learning relationships that all children need for success in school and in life.

Hal Henderson welcomed Amber Pressley, ARI Regional Reading Coach, who read Corduroy to the pre-k students in Mrs. Capers classroom.

Our four year olds enjoyed Mrs. Pressley's visit. Detailed art activities and pictures from the story indicate students were very attentive. The facial expressions and excitement demonstrated the joy in Mrs. Capers' classroom. The students were so excited as they wrote about their favorite part of the book and created their own version of Corduroy.

Breanna drew a swingset that Corduroy loved to play on.
