Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK!

"THE MEASURE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SATISFACTION."

Something to think about....
1. When you think about customer service, what characteristics distinguish your classroom from others?
2. What strategies are used in your classroom to ensure that you provide good customer service?
3. What listening techniques do you employ with students?
4. What is the difference between nurturing a conversation and being patronizing.
5. Would your students and their parents say they are certain that you listen to them? Why or why not?

Did you know?
According to research on students who drop out, any number of factors could be the source behind a student walking out the door. For instance, he or she repeated 2nd grade. Some studies suggest that being retained even once between 1st and 8th grades makes a student four times more likely to drop out than a classmate who was never held back.

All of this is said to encourage you to treat all students as customers. We always want all of our customers to be 100% satisfied. All children can learn and it is our responsibility to teach them. If there are factors standing in the way, it is also our job to take necessary steps to remove those factors.

As stated earlier today, please do not allow students to bring electronic games, MP3 players, etc. to class. THIS IS AGAINST BOARD POLICY. Students are not allowed to bring any item that may be a distraction. Do not allow these items to be brought as a reward, as a one time event, for a field trip, etc. This is not allowed AT ANY TIME!!!! If you are giving students permission, you are working against our board policy.
