Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

HAL'S TEACHER OF THE MONTH

On Friday, March 16, 2007, Kathy Clay was recognized as Hal Henderson's "Teacher of the Month". Mrs. Clay could not attend the chamber breakfast on Tuesday, March 20, 2007, because of a family vacation to Disney World. Valerie Burrage, 1st Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce, presented a certificate and WalMart gift card to Mrs. Clay recognizing her as Henderson's February Teacher of the Month. We are very proud of Mrs. Clay and appreciate all of her hard work and dedication to our students and our school.

WELCOME BACK!!!!! I hope all of you are rested, relaxed, and ready to hit the door running. We have six days before ARMT testing and nine weeks before summer break. I know all of you have worked hard this school year preparing our students for tests and the next grade level. Please continue your efforts and continue to encourage students to strive for the best. We do not want to lose anyone!!!

You have a lot to gain and your hard work and dedication will be recognized in August when AYP scores are released. REMEMBER our goal is 50%ile or greater. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Remind students of where they were last year and where they need to be in April.

Kindergarten-third grade teachers, please remember your goals for DIBELS. 5% or less intensive. YOU CAN DO IT!!! All of you have worked very hard and I know it will show up in DIBELS scores. I would love to see Hal Henderson in the top 3 - that's where we belong!!!

Special thanks to Mrs. Clay, Mrs. Haney, and Ms. Joiner. Our yearbook order was mailed and yearbooks should arrive late April or early May. I appreciate all that you did to create the wonderful book of memories for our children. I am very excited about the book - it looks great! Our yearbook will be the best and the kids will love it. Again, thanks for all of your time and dedication.
