Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

"THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK"

"Expand your input and the outcome will be better."

Something to think about!!!

1. In what ways do you see the Law of Filtered Information at work in your classroom? What insights have you gained from your understanding of this law?

2. To what degree do you feel that you can rely on students for valuable and necessary information?

3. What types of problems may occur if a teacher relies too heavily on a few "select" people for information?

4. Think about procedures that can be used to check and recheck the information you receive.

Stanford-10 and ARMT tests are quickly approaching. We have only six weeks left to remediate, enrich, and/or teach our children the necessary skills to score well on these tests. I am safe in saying that NO CHILD knows all he/she needs to know. Remember, students can't possibly do well if skills haven't been taught or introduced. All of us have very important jobs - educating children. Please use your time wisely!!! Do not allow your students to leave your classroom to run errands, pick up trash or any other task. Our students need to be actively engaged from 8:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Remember, we are below 50 percentile in all areas. This is below national average. Our school goal is to raise our scores to 50 percentile or better. WE CAN DO THIS!!!! Please work all day everyday - every minute counts! For most of our children, you solely will determine whether these children score well or not so well. IT'S UP TO YOU!!!!!
