Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

"THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK"

"It takes specific classroom management techniques to curb unnecessary interruptions."

Week of October 23, 2006

Monday - Parent Awarness Program - 6-8:00 p.m. Please plan to be here - we need everyone!

Tuesday - School Improvement/BLT Meeting

Wednesday - "Smokey the BEAR" - K-3 will report to the lunchroom at 1:15 p.m.

Thursday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MS. WILLIAMS!!!!

Friday - End 2nd Six Weeks/Fire Drill/Posting is turned on - you may post grades!

Please encourage/remind students daily about purchasing yearbooks. If you need additional forms, please see Mrs. Haney.

Congratulations to Mrs. Horn's class for leading the way in Accelerated Reader points!

Please require your students to read books on his/her level. Please monitor your AR program - I have recently found students with reading levels of 5.0-6.0 reading 0.9 books for points. This may give them points; however, it will not improve comprehension, fluency, or vocabulary. Do not allow your students to do this. Call parents if you find that this is happening. Please warn your students and inform them that you and I are monitoring this program.

FYI
As most of you know, Mr. Bobby Malone's wife passed away this past week. On behalf of our faculty and staff, a large peace lily plant was delivered to the funeral home and a card was mailed to his home address. Please keep Mr. Malone and his family in your prayers!
