Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program

Hal Henderson is home of the Talladega City Schools Pre-K Program. Mrs. Angela Capers, a "highly qualified" teacher with exceptional talents, developed the program during the 2008-2009 academic year. Mrs. Karen Graves, a "highly qualified" paraprofessional, works collaboratively with the 2010-2011 teacher, Mrs. Patricia Cook, to continously move the program forward. Mrs. Cook was previously our State Department of Education Technical Assistant who evaluated our program. We have 18 students enrolled in Pre-K. I am also pleased to announce that our site has been recognized by the State Department of Education as "exemplary."

INTRUDER

All of you did an outstanding job today with the intruder. You were prepared and very cooperative!

I appreciate your cooperation and dedication. THANKS!!

Just a few small notes to remember about Intruder lockdowns:

1. If anyone other than your students and yourself are in your classroom when lockdown is announced, please ask them to report to the office. When I announced the lockdown today, I knew the intruder was in the building, but wasn't sure of her location. Also, I later found that there were others the intruder had contacted in our building and I was unaware they were here - they did not check in with the office. I never saw them it was reported by teachers later in the day.

2. Clay, Gooden, Goodwin, Gaskin and Young - before locking your classroom doors, check the exterior doors near your room to be sure they are closed (not proped open). The other intruders had to enter the building today from the 5/6th grade wing. Make sure all exterior doors are pulled together during the day!!! Do not prop doors open for any reason. Keep a check on them at all times.

3. If you are in the lunchroom when a lockdown is announced, make sure the exterior door is closed and pull the double doors together and lock the dead bolt. In reality, you would need to move students to the back of lunchroom down and away from windows. A weapon wasn't a concern today; however, you never know when that may be the case. Always use precaution in any given situation.

Again, thanks for an oustanding job.

CONGRATULATIONS ON MAKING AYP!!!!
All of you should be very proud of your students and yourself. Hard work and dedication always payoff in the end. I cannot wait to recognize our students in an assembly. We will talk more about this on Thursday. Once again - GREAT JOB!
Thank you for all you do for our children. You are all very special!!
THE POSITIVE SIDE
With every ending comes also a new beginning.
With every disappointment comes a new opportunity for success.
With every mistake comes a new and valuable lesson to be learned.
With every setback comes a new position from which to move forward.
With every frustration comes the energy to move to a higher level of achievement.
With every challenge comes a new strategy for taking action.
With every time of darkness comes the chance to make
a real difference by shining your own special light.
With every sadness comes a deeper appreciation for the joys that life can hold.
With every difficulty comes a new level of strength to be gained.
With every loss comes an increased determination to win.
Though life has many pitfalls and problems, there is a positive side to every one of them.
Choose to see and live that positive reality, and no problem will be a problem for long.
